Rocket Shaped Xenotime with Rutile
Collection
Robert Lavinsky
Description
This is a large, well-formed crystal of the rare earth yittrium phosphate, Xenotime. The crystal exhibits superb luster along with minor translucence. The color is a rich, dark, golden brown with shimmering iridescence due in part to subsurface inclusions of Rutile. The crystal is huge and robust for this locality and style. It is from a small find of the early 2000's and was formerly in the noted collection of rarities specialist Paul Stahl of Mannheim.
