Large Celestine Geode

Large Celestine Geode from Sakoany deposit, Katsepy Commune, Mitsinjo District, Boeny Region, Mahajanga (Majunga) Province, Madagascar

Collection

Robert Lavinsky

Description

Protected in their vuggy home are sparkling, transparent, bluish-gray, Celestine crystals, the largest of which is 3.5 cm in length. The large crystal has minor bruising on the termination, but this is still a showy specimen and a nice example of a natural mineral pocket. Of course, this is one of those few instances where something most desirable and rare in his day is now common, even wholesale, but the price has been lowered accordingly to reflect this rare change in a mineral's price fortunes.
