Pyrite Sphere on Shale
Collection
Robert Lavinsky
Description
Fairly new and incredibly interesting Pyrite concretions. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, Pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on a "sphere" of shale. The specimen resembles some kind of strange planet, and almost has an organic look to it. A very nice floater specimen and certainly unusual. This specimen was photographed by Hershel Friedman in Rob Lavinsky's
special exhibit of Chinese Minerals in the Flandrau Science Center in
the University of Arizona, in Tucson 2013.
