Twisted Long Xenotime Crystal Cluster
Collection
American Museum of Natural History
Description
This is a huge, clearly "twisted" Xenotime crystal that has to be at the top of the charts for the locality. Most Xenotimes from this locale, already pretty world class I might add, are 1-2 cm. Few exceeded 3 cm, and this is the largest I have personally seen out of several hundreds looked at in the last 3 -4 years since they started to trickle out here. The color is very good, and changes a bit in hue depending on the spectrum of the lighting from red-brown to yellow-orange. The gwindel-like twist is particularly dramatic because of the vertical height in which it can express itself, making this a miniature with a bit more pizzazz than you expect out of most generally drab REE species. This is a major rarity for Pakistan, in exquisite display quality.
