Apatite group

The Apatite group is compromised of minerals that are isomorphous hexagonal phosphates. The members of this group intermingle with one another, within limits.

The most common member is Apatite, which is a group in itself containing three minerals:
Apatite-(CaF)
Ca5(PO4)3F
Apatite-(CaCl) Ca5(PO4)3Cl
Apatite-(CaOH) Ca5(PO4)3OH

Three other well-known members of the Apatite mineral group discussed in this guide are:
Pyromorphite Pb5(PO4)3Cl
Mimetite Pb5(AsO4)3Cl
Vanadinite Pb5(VO4)3Cl

Other rare members not discussed in this guide include:
Alforsite Ba5(PO4)3Cl
Belovite Sr3Na(Ce,La)(PO4)3Cl
Belovite-La Sr3Na(La,Ce)(PO4)3Cl
Carbonate-fluorapatite Ca5([PO4],[CO3])3Cl
Carbonate-hydroxylapatite Ca5([PO4],[CO3])3<

Apatite is the Most Common Member of the Apatite Group
